Homely Kindergarten
A comfy place to study

Hello! I am a Nursery 1 teacher.
In this page, I will share about my experience on how I used guidance as a teaching technique for one of my lessons.
Have you ever wondered...
How do you use guidance in helping children to discover the world around them?
Scenario:
Through this discussion, I was able to guide children on the types of sea creatures seen at the sea aquarium and made connections with the photographs shown on the screen. This helps children to better understand how they can identify the different sea animals through their unique features.
Snapshots From Video:

1. I started off my lesson by recapping on the children's field trip experience.

2. After that, I showed the first image to the children while asking an opened ended question.

Acknowledge children's answers
3. After that, I went onto the second image.
I made use of the unique feature to describe how the jellyfish can protect itself from other sea animals.

4. Moving onto the last image, one of the child said that the stingray was a flying carpet at first.
The teacher then responded with a laugh and asked the question again.
Child guidance builds a foundation on which everything else in the child's life is built, including social interactions with peers, learning together and emotional development (Miller, 2016).

5. I decided to give the children a colouring activity to observe whether they would make use of the similar colours seen through the photos or create their unique drawings.
