Hi! I am the Kindergarten 1 class teacher.
I will be sharing with you on how I can use scaffolding as one of my teaching technique in class.
Have you ever wondered...
How do you scaffold on children's knowledge in an outdoor environment?
Scenario:
Through this, I was able to scaffold on the children's knowledge through questioning on what they have already know about the things they can see at the beach. On top of that, the children were able to gain more knowledge through the discussion with their friends, as well as learning through the environment by making use of a checklist (Nguyen, 2013).
Snapshots from the video:

1. I gathered the children and gave a brief description of the activity to them.

2. To scaffold the children, I asked some questions that helps to extend their thinking and prior knowledge on what they have already know (MacNaughton and Williams, 2009).

3. After the questionings, the children then interacted with their friends to do their discussion, as well as the environment by doing a checklist; where they would tick the items that can be seen at the beach.

4. To end off the activity, I scaffolded the children by touching on what they have learnt from the activity.

An example of the children's completed checklist.
